This fabulous spa massage ritual provides the ultimate in massage treatments. Using a combination of eastern therapy techniques, Thai, Lomi Lomi (Hawaii), Balinese, Tui Nai (Chinese), Shanganese, Deep Tissue and Indian Head, and incorporating stretching and stroking movements, this massage ritual is primarily performed “hands free” to provide a wonderfully relaxing and effective massage experience.

History of Thai herbal massage
The heated muslin parcel of aromatic, medicinal herbs and spices is a truly heavenly health treatment. It has remained unchanged since Thailand’s (then Siam) Ayutthaya period of the 14th to 18th century. Fragrant hot herb packs were administered to weary soldiers upon their return home to relieve tired and weary bodies and minds.

What is a Thai herbal compress massage?
It is based on the holistic principles of Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine, Thai herbalism is a vibrant ancient tradition that was preserved for over a thousand years in the monasteries and temples of Bangkok, and which continues to be practiced in villages throughout Thailand to this present day.

Hot compresses are frequently used to address chronic problems, such as back pain and tendonitis and shoulder strain, as well as to increase the flow of energy (chi); they are often used in conjunction with traditional Thai Yoga massage.

Hot compresses provide the same stimulation as acupressure and are used to stimulate tender or sensitive areas that cannot be massaged directly, because for example a back may be too painful for direct acupressure. However hot herbal compresses on the same points will provide similar benefits.

The therapist will work the sen energy lines with the compresses and also work painful areas.

What is a Thai herbal compress?
The herbal compress is made up of a blend of many different medicinal herbs, each with their own unique properties. Typical blends include camphor, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, turmeric, tamarind among other herbs and spices. These herbs are wrapped in a muslin ball and heated with steam. The compress is then applied to the body using specialised and distinctive movements. The massage is finished off with lymphatic drainage using oils.

Stone Therapy Massage £45 (1hr 20mins)

Stone Therapy is a type of thermo or heat therapy. It uses deep penetrating heat from smooth basalt rocks and alternating cold from chilled basalt stones. Physiological benefits of alternating temperatures to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.

Stone Therapy goes beyond the physical experience of typical massage, and enters deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well being. Truly “Body-Mind-Spirit” philosophy unfolds in it.

Stone Therapy improves the work of lymphatic and immune systems, normalizes body functions, and assists your body in self healing. It also affects the sensory system which stimulates production of neuro-chemicals that bring about a sense of well-being.

...After a chakra balancing exercise using selected crystals, you begin your journey by reclining on a series of flat hot and cool stones, covered by a thick towel, that trace your spine. As you gently turn to rest upon your stomach, a large, flat hot stone is carefully placed on a towel, just above the tail bone supported by the sacrum. Cool stones are used on areas to alleviate stress. More heated stones caress and massage every inch of your body with warmth and sedation.

Spa Body Glow & Envelopment Ritual £60 (1hour 45mins)

Give your skin a real glow…. This wonderful treatment uses a personalized selection of Artiscent body creams, aroma oils, scrubs, polishes, and muds to make your skin look and feel like new. This treatment is perfect before a holiday or before a Spray Tan application.

This treatment will improve circulation, lymph flow and helps desquamation (skin renewal process).

Using a sugar or salt based product, your skin is exfoliated with particular emphasis on problem areas (i.e. feet, knees etc) using a combination of massage techniques. Hot towels are used to remove the excess scrub before a generous layer of mud is applied to the entire body area. You are than wrapped up snugly for 20-30mins allowing the mud to work on hydrating, nourishing and detoxifying your skin with an aromatic blend of patchouli, aloe vera, cucumber and white tea extracts. The mud is then removed with hot towels. After taking a warm shower, you then return for the application of aromatic oils or body cream to complete this treatment.
